Inspiration Wednesday

Here's two Trailers you should see. They both inspired me this morning. It's great to see such great work out there.

There's a sneak peek look at Henry Selick's new project "Moongirl" it was produced at Will Vinton Studios (anyone know if that studio has a new name yet?). It's looking really nice, it definitely has Selick's look to it. I don't like it as much as his stop motion work, but it has a nice look it it all the same. (I've always had a soft spot in my hart for stop motion, so that's part of the problem). I'm looking forward to seeing how the film turns out:

The other thing you should see is the trailer for the animated film Giacomo's. I don't know much about this film, but the animation is looking great! It looks like it's being produced by Sergio Pablos. I hope it gets translated and put out in America. Check it out:

Im guessing Vinton studios is actually called 'Laika' now is it?
I think that was the name of a dog that the russians put up in space....or something?
anyway the project does look nice, nowhere nerar as nice as 'corpse bride' thoug...

I didn't want to assume that it's called Laika, anyone want to confirm that name?

True "Corpse Bride" looks better, but I hate to compare two films like that, different budgets, different studios, different demands, different countrys. There's a lot that goes into making these things. I feel it's only fair to judge them on their own merit.

Yep, Vinton Studios is now absorbed in the feature animation studio Laika. That's what the AWN flash e-mail told me.

That short looks really promising. Although I'm not too fond of the boy's design, I love its character (I'm a sucker for accents).

That Sergio Pablos film looks really great too. It seems to have a pretty nice storyline, a more European storyline if you will (as far as I can tell anyway), and the animation is incredible. Can't wait to see that one when it's released to festivals (or even theatres!).

Sorry, your right of course about not comparing the two films, I just felt that the stop-mo of Henry Selicks earlier work suited his style so well and the comparison came from his previously working with Tim Burton on 'Nightmare'...
thanks a lot for the link though!
